We arrive in Kathmandu in the morning of Day 2 and transfer to our hotel for a two night stay. DAY 3 Kathmandu This morning we include a city tour of Kathmandu. This fascinating city is, of course, a deeply spiritual place. As we walk the bustling streets, we are surrounded by reminders of Kathmandu's history, overlaid with the frenetic pace of modern life in the city. Temples, stupas and palaces abound, and we will visit a few of the most famous, including the Temple of the Living Goddess and the 2,000-year-old Stupa of Swayambhunath. Thought to be the oldest of Kathmandu's temples, Swayambhunath's splendid golden spire, with its piercing eyes, has become a familiar image of the city. At the heart of Kathmandu is Durbar Square, where we find the fascinating Old Royal Palace. We will also see the current Palace of the Kings. DAY 4 Pokhara Today we transfer to the airport for our flight to Pokhara, where we will stay at the Shangri-La Village overnight. Pokhara is located on the shores of serene Phewa Lake, and is the starting point for our Nepalese adventure. We gain our first taste of Nepal's splendid scenery with a visit to the spectacular Devis Falls, known to the locals as Hell's Fall, whose rushing waters disappear underground. We then take a relaxing boat trip on Phewa Lake. We return to Pokhara, where we have some free time to explore and visit the lively Old Bazaar. All manner of goods are sold here, from local delicacies to textiles and jewellery. DAY 5 Nayapul Birethanti This morning we drive to Nayapul for the beginning of our trek. Along the way we pass through the Seti Gorge, which offers great views of the mountains. We walk up through the foothills of the Annapurnas, and into the valley of the Modi Khola, where the Modi river rushes over a course strewn with boulders and lined with dense foliage. We continue to the Sanctuary Lodge, our accommodation for tonight. From this comfortable lodge you can enjoy magnificent views of Fishtail Mountain, named for the distinctive shape of its peak. This striking mountain is sacred to the local people, and consequently is out of bounds to climbers. We take lunch at the lodge, before a free afternoon during which you can explore the surrounding river valley. (Approximate walking time 1½ hours) DAY 6 Birethanti Majhgaon Our walk this morning affords us wonderful views of the Annapurnas as we trek on through gently rising terrain towards the village of Lumle, then on to the village of Chandrakot. From here walk to the Gurung village of Majhgaon and through dense forest to the Gurung Lodge. After lunch at the lodge, we take a walk into the village, where you will have the chance to learn more of the Gurung CHINA N E PA L POKHARA CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK Bhaktapur KATHMANDU INDIA To view dates & prices click here 60 To book click here
