Spirit of Cuba 16 days from £1699 Tobacco harvesting, Vinales Trinidad Havana · Historic Havana · Salsa of Santiago de Cuba · UNESCO town of Trinidad · Relaxing tropical beaches Take an unforgettable journey across Cuba from Old Havana, where classic American cars and horse-drawn carriages are equally at home... through the bizarre yet breathtaking landscape of the Vinales Valley to the colonial splendour of Trinidad and Santiago... then relax on a soft white sandy beach and swim in the warm waters of the Caribbean. ITINERARY DAY 1 UK/Havana We fly to Havana and transfer to the Hotel Nacional, one of the most famous hotels in Havana, for three nights, where the traditional atmosphere makes a great introduction to Cuba. A welcome drink awaits and there will be time to relax and settle in before dinner this evening. DAY 2 Havana Where better to begin our tour of Havana than in a cigar factory? We watch the skilled workers drying, sorting, rolling and boxing some of the world's finest cigars. From here, hop on a horse-drawn carriage for a ride through the streets before we begin our walking tour. We discover faded, colonial buildings, plazas and grand sweeping boulevards bursting with life. There'll be free time to explore at leisure before our evening meal a private dinner at La Guarida restaurant, where we enjoy a typical Cuban meal. DAY 3 Havana The Latin beat of salsa is everywhere in Cuba, so join in the fun this morning and learn how to dance the Cuban way with our dance teacher and take the opportunity to visit a rum museum, as rum is one of the most famous Cuban exports. The afternoon is free and this evening you'll have dinner in a local restaurant before returning to the Nacional for an evening at Parisian Cabaret. DAY 4 Vinales Leaving Havana this morning we head into the Vinales Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty where 160-million-year-old limestone hills or mogotes litter the valley floor like randomly-dropped boulders. We visit the small picturesque town of Vinales and lunch is included at Rancho San Vicente local restaurant. We spend the next two nights at the La Moka reserve. DAY 5 La Moka A day at leisure to make your own discoveries or take one of our guided walks and learn about the eco project, and the nature and flora of the area. DAY 6 Cienfuegos Experience some amazing scenery today as we head to the harbour city of Cienfuegos, known as the `Pearl of the South'. We stop for lunch in Guama, a reconstruction of an Amerindian village. Continue to Cuba's largest Botanical Gardens. Set in 90 acres we'll find 2000 plant species including 200 different varieties of cactus. We stay overnight in Cienfuegos in the 4-star Jagua Hotel.
