DAY 7 Montreal travelling north through the gentle vermont countryside, we reach the canadian border and the magnificent bilingual city of montreal. it occupies an island at the junction of the st. lawrence and ottawa rivers. although hundreds of miles from the sea, it is a major port and canadas second city. a wealth of historic sites are set amidst its cobbled streets, 17th century buildings, beautiful gardens and parks. our city tour shows us some of the citys highlights, including the old Quarter, the notre dame cathedral and mont royal. DAY 8 Quebec City today we travel north to the walled city of Quebec. Quebec city is the bastion of french influence and culture in canada. it is the only walled city in north america and now a world heritage site. standing proudly on the mighty st. lawrence river, it is a city of winding cobbled streets, ancient churches, norman-style houses, stone buildings, public squares and horse-drawn calèches. it is a delightful city to explore, with famous sights including the cathedral, château frontenac, the Basilica, the citadel, and the plains of abraham. DAY 9 Montreal today is at leisure for you to explore montreal at your own pace. DAY 10 Ottawa we travel to canadas elegant capital city today and stay overnight. situated on the rideau canal, ottawas main attractions include the parliament Buildings and the grand chateau laurier hotel, which we will see during our city tour. try maple syrup from the Byward market in the old part of ottawa, or taste some of the delights on offer in the many bakeries and cheese shops dotted around. DAY 11 Ottawa & Niagara Falls this morning we head to niagara falls for an overnight stay, travelling via Kingston. on arrival in niagara falls, we enjoy dinner with views of the illuminated falls. DAY 12 Corning we cross the border into america this morning by entering new york state. we drive to corning, in the heart of the finger lakes region and stop en route at letchworth state park. the park comprises of three waterfalls, high cliffs and some of the most stunning scenery in america, spread across more than 14,000 acres. we enjoy lunch in the Glen iris inn, overlooking one of the waterfalls and stay overnight in corning. DAY 13 New York we arrive in new york a truly irresistable 24-hour city! the rest of the day is free for you to make your own discoveries. for your evening entertainment, there are many smash hit Broadway shows to choose from and, of course, new york is renowned for its fantastic variety of restaurants. DAY 14 & 15 New York/UK our short tour of this spectacular city will take us from Broadway, times square and the Empire state Building to Greenwich village, then chinatown, the Bowery and wall street. transfer to the airport this afternoon for our return flight to the uK, arriving the next day.
