Embrace the Spirit of Adventure on a journey to the end of the earth
A BETTER WAy TO EXPLORE The polar regions are among the last untamed places on earth and, as such, command a level of preparation, flexibility and respect not encountered elsewhere. Our program is designed to make the utmost of your time and experience, with a flexible approach that takes the group out of group travel, enabling you to enjoy the Arctic and Antarctica in your own way. No two voyages are the same. Wildlife, weather and ice conditions often affect the day-to-day itinerary and this adds immense interest to your expedition. In addition, we like to explore new destinations whenever possible. Each day you wake to the promise of new experiences: massive penguin colonies, isolated Arctic communities, Viking ruins, or spectacular panoramas of ice and water. We plan itineraries that are busy but we also take time to relax and appreciate our surroundings. Peregrines two expedition ships, Peregrine Mariner and Peregrine Voyager, have a solid reputation for being the ideal ships in terms of size, speed, safety and stability for exploring the unpredictable extremes of the planet. Our ships are the perfect home base for exploring the polar wilderness areas, moving us quickly from bay to island to fjord, and providing a warm and comfortable homecoming at the end of a days exploration. OUR SHIPS Peregrine Mariner and Peregrine Voyager were built in Scandinavia by the Russian Academy of Science in 1988-89 to partner each other in sensitive hydro-acoustic ocean research. As the pride of the Russian scientific fleet, the ships boast state-of-the-art technology, and were designed to be exceptionally stable, manoeuvrable, fast and quiet. Inside the ship, there is little, if any, ambient engine noise or vibration. The ships have a sophisticated stabilisation and trimming system built into their icestrengthened hulls, which makes our passage comfortable, even in a gale! Unmatched stability, coupled with superior speed cruising at 14.5 knots adds up to more time at our destination, rather than at sea, and more flexibility a critical factor in polar regions.
