Day 1 Day 2-3 Day 4-5 (Mon) Arrive in Addis Ababa and transfer to hotel. City tour of Addis Ababa. Fly to Bahar Dar. Boat cruise to island monasteries on Lake Tana. Explore the Blue Nile Falls. Drive to Gondar. Tour of the Royal Enclosure, Debre Berhan Selassie Church and Ploughshare Project for single mothers. Simien Mountains National Park. Game drive/walk for gelada baboons. Walk to Jinbar Waterfall. Drive to Aksum via Tekeze Valley. Explore archaeological and historic sights of Aksum. Fly to Lalibela. Explore rock-hewn churches in Lalibela town. Visit remote church built within a cave. Optional half-day mule excursion. Fly to Addis Ababa. Traditional meal and dancing. Optional visit to Merkato market. Fly to Cairo and transfer to hotel. Visit Egyptian Museum, Great Pyramids and Sphinx. Sleeper train to Luxor. Arrive Luxor. Horse-drawn carriages to Karnak Temple. Visit Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon. Board Nile cruise boat. Sail to Aswan. Visit Edfu and Komombo Temples. Free day in Aswan. Optional visit to Abu Simbel. Sleeper train to Cairo. Arrive Cairo. Day 6
Follow the Nile River on an epic adventure through the heart of Ethiopia and Egypt. We explore the Blue Nile Falls on foot before taking a boat journey on Lake Tana, the actual source of the river. The Blue Nile River provides 85 per cent of the water that travels down the Nile River, making Ethiopia an important reservoir for northern Africa and the Middle East. Whilst in Ethiopia we visit the regions of Gondar, Simien Mountains, Aksum and Lalibela and gain an insight into this diverse and beautiful country. Our wonderful Nile journey of discovery continues as we travel north into Egypt. After visiting Cairo and experiencing the grandeur of the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx we transfer to Luxor, where we explore the fertile Nile Valley and the fabled Valley of Kings. A fitting finale to this adventure is a cruise on the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, before returning to the bustling streets and bazaars of Cairo.
