...and thats just for starters! Latin America stretches for more than 12,000 kilometres from Mexico in the north, all the way to the island of Tierra del Fuego at the very bottom of South America. Waiting to be explored along the way are the lush jungles of Central America and the Amazon Basin, the towering Andes Mountains and the remnants of the great civilisations of the Aztecs, Mayas and Incas. There are bustling cities, remote mountain villages, local markets, incredible national parks and everywhere you travel you will meet warm, friendly people and come face to face with the irrepressible Latin culture. Our adventures in Latin America are going from strength to strength. Out in the remote Galapagos Islands, the Peregrine Endeavour has just completed another fantastic season and the reports back from this wonderland of nature continue to be outstanding. In 2008 we are pleased to offer even more voyages to these exotic isles, many of which have been combined with an adventure in Peru. Wildlife continues to be a focus of Peregrines expansion in Latin America with new wildlife viewing opportunities in the Orinoco Delta of Venezuela, the Tortuguero National Park of Costa Rica and Brazils Pantanal and Amazon jungle. Central America is steadily growing in popularity and this year Peregrine will combine the highlights of Cuba with its larger neighbour Mexico. Weve also got our time-honoured favourites such as the South America Circle, Patagonian Trails and Inca Adventure trips, which are just as popular as ever. Foremost in our minds is our desire to provide you with an opportunity to experience something different. At Peregrine we aim to do far more than to scratch the surface. DESTINATION MANAGER PROFILE STEVE MORTIMER
In 1983, Steve began work as a tour leader in South America. For the next two years, he led trips throughout the continent, visiting nearly every country at least three times each. Stints in Africa (including a complete circumnavigation), the Himalaya and time spent running a travel company in Sydney followed. Steve has been Peregrines Latin America Destination Manager for the last five years and he takes full advantage of his position to travel to Latin America at least three times a year. He recently returned from a three-month sojourn in Argentina where he brushed up on his Spanish.
