The Patagonian Andes consist of towering granite peaks, pristine lakes and massive glaciers. The town of El Chalten is our base for some great day hikes to Fitz Roy Base Camp, Laguna de los Tres and Cerro Torre. The sight and sound of the Moreno Glacier, as it makes its torturously slow advance across a five-kilometre front, will leave us breathless. Across the border in Chile, we enjoy some great day treks through the Paine National Park with its magnificent wildlife and the incredible Towers of Paine. Finally, at the tip of the continent, we explore the worlds southernmost city  Ushuaia. A boat trip exploring the tiny islands of Beagle Channel is a delightful way to conclude our adventure. We tour the colonial centre and visit one of Chiles oldest wineries. Flying south to Puerto Montt we come to the beautiful Chilean Lakes District. From Phillippi Hill in charming Puerto Varas we take in the superb views of Llanquihue Lake and the Osorno Volcano, before visiting the handicraft markets of Angelmo. The Vicente Perez Rosales National Park and the astounding Petrohue Falls beckon, before a relaxing sail across Lake Todos Los Santos. Over a thousand kilometres further south lies Punta Arenas, one of the most southerly cities in the world and the gateway to the stunning Torres del Paine National Park. We explore the parks giant granite towers, glaciers and lakes, before we head back to the bright lights and bustling streets of Santiago.
