In the afternoon, we board the Peregrine Endeavour and cruise to Leon Domido and the large island of San Cristobal where we visit the Interpretation Centre and the rugged volcanic peaks of Cerro Brujo. Next stop is isolated Espanola Island where we find waved albatross, blue-footed and masked boobies, Galapagos hawks, Darwin finches, sea lions and marine iguanas. On the island of Floreana we visit Post Office Bay, a great spot for snorkelling full of sea lions and colourful fish. Galapagos Encounter 7 Days
This trip introduces the highlights of the northern islands of the Galapagos. From Baltra, we board the Peregrine Endeavour and head for Las Bachas, a haven for birds including pelicans, frigate birds and blue-footed boobies. We explore the volcanic craters of Rabida complete with a lagoon and a flamingo rookery. We can also swim with fur seals on Santiago Island and, on the volcanic island of Bartolome, we hike to the top for spectacular views across the islands. On Santa Cruz, we visit the Charles Darwin Centre and the Highlands for an encounter with the giant Galapagos tortoise. For something a little different we spend our last night ashore on Santa Cruz Island in the small village of Puerto Ayora, before flying back to Quito.
An informative look at the forces of nature at work in this remarkable island chain
