An overland adventure across Mexico, starting in vibrant Mexico City and ending on the sandy shores lively Cancun
Our Mexican adventure starts in the huge metropolis of Mexico City. Nearby Teotihuacan was once Mexicos largest ancient city and is home to the huge Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Our next stop is the Spanish-built city of Oaxaca, where we can explore lively markets or relax in one of the many cafes, before visiting Monte Alban, the ancient capital of the Zapotecs. San Cristobal is a charming town with a lively, bohemian atmosphere and is home to many indigenous Indian communities. Further on is Palenque, with its magnificent jungle ruins and pristine waterfalls. We cross the Rio Usumacinta into the Yucatan Peninsula and continue on to Merida, where we visit the Mayan sites of Uxmal and Chichen Itza. Our journey comes to an end at the lively holiday city of Cancun.

Drive to Palenque, visit waterfalls and Mayan jungle ruins. Continue to Campeche. Drive to Merida. Explore Merida city and Uxmal. Visit magnificent Chichen Itza ruins. Continue to Cancun; free day, or visit sandy beaches of Playa del Carmen. Trip ends in Cancun this morning (Sun).

Day 1-2 Day 3-5 Day 6 (Fri) Arrive Havana and transfer to hotel. Full day to explore city. Bus to Trinidad. Explore town and boat cruise to Cayo Macho, including seafood lunch. Morning hike along the Codina Trail. Continue to Santa Clara to visit Che Guevara Mausoleum and Armoured Train Museum. Visit Las Terrazas Biosphere Reserve and Vinales, including visit to a cigar factory and boat ride in Indian Cave. Drive to beautiful Cayo Levisa. Free time for optional beach activities. Return to Havana and fly to Mexico City. Sightseeing in colonial centre and excursion to nearby Teotihuacan. Drive to Oaxaca via Puebla. Visit the Zapotec ruins of Monte Alban. Visit Chiapa de Corzo and Sumidero. Explore San Cristobal de las Casas and surrounding Indian villages. Drive to Palenque and visit waterfalls and Mayan jungle ruins. Continue to Campeche. This adventure combines the highlights of Cuba with Mexico. Experience Havana and its colonial buildings, as well as the charming cobblestone streets of Trinidad town. We enjoy a catamaran cruise on the clear waters of the Caribbean and follow the story of the Cuban Revolution when we visit Santa Clara, home of Che Guevaras memorial. Next stop is Vinales, with its lush green valleys and tobacco farms. Theres time to relax on the beaches of Cayo Levisa before flying across the Gulf of Mexico to Mexico City. The capital lies a short distance from ancient Teotihuacan, site of the massive Pyramid of the Sun. Further along are colonial Puebla and colourful Oaxaca, renowned for their beautiful architecture and fantastic food. We discover Monte Alban, which was the ancient capital of the Zapotecs, as well as the colourful Indian village of San Cristobal de las Casas and historic Palenque, before exploring the Yucatan with its magnificent Mayan pyramids at Uxmal and Chichen Itza.
