The extensive archaeological zone of Angkor is amongst the greatest temple complexes in the world. The site includes the ancient city area of Angkor Thom, with its multitude of carved-stone faces that stand as silent witnesses to former days of glory, and Ta Prohm, a temple complex that has been reclaimed by the jungle. We fly to vibrant Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, and visit the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek a sombre reminder of the reign of Pol Pot. The revitalised city is also home to Wat Phnom, as well as the Silver Pagoda, located in the Royal Palace. Its waterfront, located near the confluence of the Tonle Sap and the mighty Mekong River, is a picture of tranquility.

Laos Unveiled 14 Days
Laos is the hidden gem of Asia. Vientiane, unlike most capital cities, is bathed in tranquility, with the pace and mood of a large country town. Situated on the banks of the Mekong River, it is home to many historic Buddhist temples and monuments, including the impressive golden stupa of Pha That Luang. Against a setting of Buddhist monuments and crumbling French colonial architecture in Luang Prabang, we encounter welcoming locals who have often had little contact with foreigners. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous and lush the perfect place for scenic photographs. Between Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang we stop at a village to play hosts to a book party. In southern Laos we explore the Khmer temple of Wat Po, enjoy the natural surrounds at Tad Fan and visit the beautiful Si Pan Don (four thousand islands) region of the Mekong River before returning to Vientiane.
