This trip covers Chinas most famous icons. We explore a remote, beautiful and uncrowded section of the Great Wall, as well as the many highlights of Beijing. In Xian the famous Terracotta Warriors are fascinating, but it is the Muslim Quarter, a side of China that few travellers experience, that truly inspires. The narrow alleyways, colourful markets and quiet mosques are remnants of an era when Xian was part of the ancient Silk Road trading route. A visit to Chengdus giant panda breeding centre brings us face-to-face with the countrys best-loved natural icon. On a Yangtze River cruise through the beautiful Three Gorges, we pass many picturesque rural scenes and feel the vibrancy of Chinas most important waterway. Finally, SOUTH Shanghais bright lights, fascinating waterfront and KOREA frenetic pace give us an insight into the modern face of China.

Hong Kong is full of surprises. Discover its backstreets before enjoying a hike on lush Lantau Island. Guizhou Province has seen little change over the centuries and is home to some of Chinas most magnificent scenery. The terraced landscape is dotted with tiny minority villages of the Miao and the Dong people, many of whom have never met or seen a foreigner. Trekking in the eastern part of the province, we stay as guests in a Miao village, giving us an insight into their unique customs. At enchanting Yangshuo, surrounded by limestone pinnacles, we ride bikes in the countryside and enjoy lunch in a local village home. No trip to China is complete without visiting Xian and Beijing. There is ample free time to explore each city and discover their highlights and hidden charms.
