Our journey begins in the extraordinary Portuguese capital of Lisbon, home to some of Europes finest historic architecture. The towns along the coast near Lisbon have retained much of their medieval character from the days when the Portuguese ruled the seas. Walking around villages such as Sesimbra and Colares shows us the warmth of the Portuguese people and in Sintra the fairytale castle is truly something to behold. Next we travel into neighbouring Spain and its most beguiling region of Andalucia. Through regal Seville and enchanting Ronda we experience Spains diverse cultural heritage geographically isolated from continental Europe and heavily influenced by North Africa. Spectacular mountain ranges and lush river valleys make walking in this region a special experience. Literature, art and centuries of passionate history await discovery on this intriguing journey.

Trails of Andalucia 8 Days
Andalucia was the last stronghold of the Moors, who arrived from North Africa in the 8th century and left a heritage that has made Andalucia what it is today. Seville is the vibrant provincial capital and home of flamenco, whilst the area around Ronda is one of the most beautiful parts of the Iberian Peninsula. The landscape is hilly and dotted with delightful small villages built on steep slopes. The narrow alleyways and houses with wrought-iron balconies covered in bright red geraniums exude a distinctly Moorish air. Granada offers a wonderful insight into the rich culture of the Moorish period a highlight is the splendid architecture and rich ornamentation of beautiful Alhambra Palace. After walking during the day, we relax in the evenings, enjoying delicious local cuisine and watching Andalucia come to life.
