On this journey we explore the dramatic hills and dales of Patagonia. The name of the region came from Ferdinand Magellan who explored the coastline in the 1520s. He claimed that the natives were a race of giants quite an exaggeration, although the landscape is certainly on a gargantuan scale. From El Calafate we visit the Perito Moreno Glacier on its twisting, 30-kilometre-long journey down the mountainside. We travel to our lodge in El Chalten where we spend three fabulous days on mountain walks that lead us to the base camps of the magnificent Mount Cerro Torre and the Fitz Roy massif. Returning to our lodge each afternoon, these relatively easy hikes offer stunning vistas and the opportunity for anyone with a moderate level of fitness to truly bask in the beauty and serenity of this gorgeous region.

ITINERARY AND HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7 Arrive in El Calafate and transfer to hotel. Visit the Perito Moreno Glacier and take a glacier mini-hike. Drive to El Chalten, our base for the next three nights. Hike to Laguna de los Tres and Fitz Roy Base Camp. Hike to Laguna Torre at the base of Cerro Torre. Free time for optional activities in El Chalten. Return to El Calafate where trip ends on arrival. Start and nish days vary by departure.
