This outstanding rugged circuit is perfect for the serious trekker we get out amongst incredible mountains in one of the most remote and beautiful trekking regions in the Peruvian Andes. The Huayhuash Circuit is not a technical trek, however we can spend up to seven hours a day trekking, crossing eight high passes all of them above 4500 metres. The rewards from this trek are immense. Towering mountain peaks such as Yerupaja and Sarapo surround us. We witness hanging glaciers and brilliant turquoise lakes and we stay at campsites with seemingly unbelievable views. The Huayhuash trek commences from the small village of Matacancha, where we meet our trekking guides, porters and mules. Our next ten days are spent on the Huayhuash Circuit before we conclude our adventure in bustling Lima weary but elated!

ITINERARY AND HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6-13 Day 14 Day 15 (Mon) Arrive in Lima and transfer to hotel. Bus to Huaraz. Acclimatisation trek from Huaraz to a height of 3500 metres. Acclimatisation trek to Lake 69 at 4500 metres. Drive back to Huaraz. Drive to Matacancha and start trek. Overnight at Cuartelhuain. Eight-day trek along the Huayhuash Circuit. Maximum altitude reached is 5000 metres. Conclude trek in Llamac. Return to Huaraz. Return to Lima where trip ends on arrival (Mon).
