Llanganuco Llama Trek 8 Days
A trek in Perus Cordillera Blanca promises some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery in the world. And what better way to trek than with the help of llamas the traditional pack animal of the ancient Incas. Leaving Lima, we head for the climbing centre of Huaraz. In Cashapampa, we load up the llamas and take to the mountain trails our highest point on the trek is reached at Punta Union at 4750 metres. All around, magnificent mountains soar above us including Santa Cruz, Huandoy and the towering Mount Huascaran the highest mountain in Peru. As we descend through the mountain valleys, we have excellent views of the beautiful Llanganuco Lakes. At the end of our trek we return to the warmth and comfort of Huaraz, where we spend our final night before returning to Lima.
ITINERARY AND HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4-6 (Wed) Arrive in Lima and transfer to hotel. Drive to Huaraz to prepare for start of trek. Acclimatisation trek to a height of 3500 metres. Return to Huaraz. Three days of trekking with llamas along the Llanganuco Trail reaching a height of 4750 metres. Conclude trek and return to Huaraz via Llanganuco, Orkon-cocha and Chinan-cocha Lakes. Return to Lima where trip ends on arrival (Wed).
