Cappadocia & Taurus Trek 10 Days
Stunning Istanbul, where Europe meets Asia, is also where Turkeys past and present collide. After exploring the citys highlights, we head to Cappadocia and embark on our walking adventure. Formed in ancient times by volcanic activity and erosion, the bizarre rock formations of the region have been excavated by the local people to create remarkable dwellings and places of worship. Our expedition takes us into the midst of this fairytale landscape, where we walk amongst rock cones, fretted ravines, fairy chimneys and ancient Christian art. We then head west to the stunning Taurus Mountains. Hiking in this region and camping in the highlands enables us to access remote villages and share in the legendary hospitality of the nomadic people who have settled in this part of the world. These pastoral experiences are truly captivating and will remain with us long after our journey is complete.

iTiNerarY aNd HiGHliGHTS
day 1 day 2 (sun) arrive in Istanbul and transfer to hotel. Tour of Istanbul including the Blue Mosque. afternoon free to explore the Grand Bazaar. overnight train to Ankara. Travel to Cappadocia via the salt lake. Hike along the Melendiz River in Ihlara valley. Explore Byzantine cave chapels (4 hours). drive to askvadi (Love valley) and explore, then on to Pigeon Valley to explore the rock formations on foot (3 hours). Return to Goreme. drive to Pasabaglar Valley, past fairy chimneys. Walk to Kizilcukur (Red valley) and explore rock formations and cave chapels (6 hours). Travel to the underground city of derinkuyu. Head to Taurus Mountains and walk to campsite in Emli valley (3 hours). Walk up to siyirmalik valley. Hike to Eznevit Plateau. descend to sokullupinar Plateau (6 hours). Meet the local nomads of the arpalik Plateau. descend into Cimbar valley to demirkazik village (4 hours). drive to Konya. visit the mausoleum and museum of Mevlana. drive to antalya where trip ends on arrival (Tue).
