The second-largest Canary island after Tenerife, Fuerteventura is an island that has remained relatively undeveloped compared to its neighbours, despite becoming ever more popular with those looking for a relaxing sun-and-sea break. There are no high-rise resorts, no concrete jungles. Instead, you get more of an authentic Canaries experience. But that's not to say it's got nothing going on. The capital, Puerto del Rosario, and the largest beach resort, Corralejo, are both quite lively, with bars, restaurants and clubs catering well for holidaymakers if they've had enough of the beach. However, there's nowhere near the buzzing atmosphere you'll find in the south coast resorts of Tenerife or Gran Canaria. If this were an album review, and Fuerteventura the artist in question, phrases like Appeals to Everyone and Middle of the Road would be bandied around. As to scenery, Fuerteventura's beaches are arguably the best swathes of sand in the Canaries. They wouldn't look out of place in the Caribbean. We're talking magnificent golden dunes that seem to just go on and on. Check out the Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo, where the dunes are at their best. Fuerteventura's shores are also really popular with watersports enthusiasts. The summer trade winds and winter Atlantic swells make it a surfer's dream come true. And this place also delivers on the sightseeing front. For scenic theatrics, head inland to clap eyes on volcanic peaks and sweeping plains. Follow the hair-raising mountain road from Pajara to Betancuria for awesome views over the haunting lava-scapes.
Corralejo Location Approximately 36km from Fuerteventura airport Transfer Time About 30 to 50 minutes
Sun, sea, sand - they're here by the bucket load. On the northern tip of Fuerteventura, Corralejo is the island's biggest resort and offers bliss-inducing beaches. Once a tiny fishing village, the resort still retains the air of the small port it once was. Surrounded by tasteful modern buildings, the original square is still the main hub of activity, although the main drag, with its medley of beach and gift shops, competes hard. Staying in town is a genuine option thanks to the delightful central beach. Whether you're holidaying with kids or not, its soft, clean sands are lapped by sheltered waters, perfect for splashing around in. And behind the sands, a huddle of amiable restaurants and bars offer welcome refreshment when the heat gets too much. Take your pick from English fish and chips, pizzas or Canarian paella. But it's to the south that Corralejo notches up beach brownie points. Here, along the eastern coast, you'll find endless gorgeous sands and mountainous dunes. Add the aquamarine waters and the cooling breezes - and you're in beach heaven. Be careful though, the currents can be fairly strong. You'll never be at a loss for things to do here. Ride a glass-bottomed boat to the volcanic Isla de Lobos to seek out sandy coves. Or try Fuerteventura's former capital Betancuria, deep inland, with its picturesque church and museum. Come sunset, return to base to enjoy its low-key, bustling nightlife. Most evenings in Corralejo amount to a leisurely starlit Oasis Park Adventure supper followed by a chill-out at one of the relaxed bars or discos in its centre. Award Winner

Highlights
Jandia Location 27km south of Costa Calma
Transfer Time About 1 hour to 1 hour 45 minutes Perched on the south east corner of Fuerteventura with an awe-inspiring beach running to the north, Jandia is joy incarnate for everyone who loves feeling the sand beneath their toes. It's true this modern resort wouldn't win many awards for its traditional Spanish charm. But it's got what you need by way of restaurants, shops and tapas bars along its beachfront and in its modern, whitewashed centre, so what more could you want? When you're spending every spare minute on a surreally beautiful beach, all you need are the holiday essentials. Even at night, when you drag your sand-baked body home, there's a nice line in vibrant music bars if you're up for some late-night socialising. Let's rewind to the beach for a moment. Running for an unbelievable 32 kilometres, it's an absolute humdinger. There are gorgeous white cashmere-soft sands. Warm turquoise seas that twinkle on the horizon. And a delightful cooling breeze that makes the waters perfect not just for families, but for windsurfers, water-skiers and scuba-divers too. All clasped into place by an immense blue sky. It's the stuff of dreams.
Year after year the Oasis Park proves to be one of our most popular days out and has also been a regular winner of our Supplier of Excellence award. At the Oasis Park, which is set in lush tropical gardens, you'll find a wide variety of birds, reptiles, primates and other mammals, both in the zoo and at large. But without a doubt the highlight of this day is a ride on Harry the Hump! In pairs you board your very own ship of the desert for an unforgettable experience. But that's not all; there are shows to take in too, such as the Parrots, the Crocs and the Birds of Prey, as well as one of the largest Botanical Gardens in the
Canaries. A buffet lunch is also included which makes this day out exceptional value for money and a must do for all ages!
Lanzarote Discovery
This is the perfect way to add some variety to your stay and visit the Timanfaya National Park and its famous volcano, Fire Mountain. The demonstration of the thermal activity beneath the ground will leave you mesmerised by Mother Nature.
