What we do is small, characterful and comfortable. We think that when you wake up in the morning you should know where in the world you are. If you're looking for chandeliers and uniformed doormen, however, then you should probably look elsewhere. We look for a combination of location, quality, service and comfort. Sometimes all of the boxes are ticked; at other times the location and service might make up for a more basic hotel. Most of the time there is no conflict: you can get to the most beautiful places, enjoy an active day and still sleep somewhere exceptional.
Our holidays are all active to some degree. It's a broad church, though, ranging from fairly gentle walking to action packed weekends away. Apart from a couple of our horse riding trips, none of our holidays demand expertise. What they do require is an adventurous spirit and basic fitness. We carefully pace our holidays to balance the active and the comfortable. Our detailed itineraries are designed to give you a good sense of what any particular holiday involves. Alternatively, pick up the phone to speak to one of us. We do our best to be straightforward with you it just isn't in our interest to sell you a holiday that you won't enjoy.
We love the places we go to, so being responsible is about much more than just offsetting flight emissions. We are unusual for a travel company in working directly with so many local suppliers: individual guides, small hotels, lodges and restaurants, etc. It's more work for us, but it means that your visit directly benefits the places you visit and the people you meet. It also makes for a much better holiday and it's usually the people who get the rave reviews from our clients. We also directly support a range of environmental and health programmes in the countries we visit.

For each holiday in the brochure we have a detailed itinerary our version of a `trip dossier'. These contain detailed descriptions of each day of your holiday as well as general information, dates and prices.
