Peru & Galapagos
Inca Trail and Galapagos Islands
Take this amazing opportunity to combine one of the world's great walks with a cruise of the Galapagos Islands. Visit colourful Cusco whilst acclimatising for the fully portaged trek to Machu Picchu. Continue to Ecuador to explore the Galapagos Islands. Expert naturalist guides introduce you to the Galapagos tortoise, marine iguanas and blue-footed boobies. Walk across volcanic lava flows and snorkel with sea lions off a white sandy beach. How active?
The Inca Trail involves high altitudes and some steep steps, but the pace is relaxed and fully portaged. In total you walk around 28 miles over four days at altitudes of up to 4,200m, with time in Cusco to acclimatise gradually. Pura Aventura runs its own Inca Trail departures so that only our clients are walking together. Our groups are small and individuals generally have the same agenda - to enjoy a challenging walk but with time to appreciate the scenery. In the Galapagos Islands there is gentle walking, swimming and snorkelling. Essentially this part of the holiday is very relaxing.

How comfortable?
Either join this holiday on a dedicated Pura Aventura departure with first class hotels, or go for a tailor-made experience, where you have free choice of hotels and boats. For your three nights' camping on the Inca Trail, we provide a fully portaged trip with both dining and toilet tents to make the experience as civilised as possible. We charter various boats in the Galapagos which are generally first class motor sail boats for 12-16 passengers. Examples are Cachalote, Diamante, Sagitta, Beagle and Samba. Cabins are generally small although the communal areas and deck space more than make up for it.
