The Inca Trail involves high altitudes. There are many steep steps towards the end, but the pace is relaxed and the trip is fully portaged. In total you walk around 28 miles over the four days at altitudes of up to 4,200m. We allow time in Cusco before the walk for you to acclimatise. In the Amazon activity is limited to short walks and time spent in dugout canoes. On the island you can expect some gentle walking excursions. This holiday is as much about exploration, wildlife and culture as it is about walking.

Return to Cusco by train. · Day 12 Travel by train to Lake Titicaca. · Day 13 Explore Lake Titicaca today; stay on an island lodge tonight. · Day 14 Learn about island communities from your native guides. · Day 15 Fly to Lima for two nights. · Day 16 Explore Lima with your guide. · Day 17 Fly home. · Day 18 Arrive back.

This is the upgraded version of our Essential Peru holiday and is really quite luxurious; not only in terms of accommodation but also pace. Explore places in depth with the help of our dedicated team of guides. Stay in what we consider to be the best accommodation for the location, from fully supported camping on the Inca Trail to a five star hotel in Cusco and a remote eco-lodge on Lake Titicaca. Whilst this is not a group holiday, you may mix with other Pura clients on the Inca Trail. If you prefer a completely private departure, please ask. We only run dedicated Pura Aventura departures on the Trail.
