In total you walk around 28 miles over the four days at altitudes of up to 4,200m, with time in Cusco for you to acclimatise. Our own Inca Trail departures mean that only Pura groups walk together. Activity in the Amazon is limited to short walks. This is a tailor-made holiday so we can adjust the level of activity to suit you. The one-day Inca Trail is a possibility, as is the train to Machu Picchu. How comfortable? Stay in a variety of characterful hotels and lodges ranging from first class camping on the Inca Trail to a four star hotel in Cusco. In the Amazon, you stay in a rainforest lodge constructed in the traditional style of one large thatched sleeping block with thin walls dividing the rooms, all of which are en suite. Camping on the Inca Trail is fully portaged. Dining and toilet tents are provided. This is a tailor-made holiday so you are not travelling as part of a group except for the Inca Trail. We only run dedicated Pura Aventura departures on the Trail. Groups are up to 16 people with two guides although groups of eight are more usual. Sounds perfect? Our Inca Trail hike is a day longer than others, so campsites are calmer, trekking is quieter and there is more time to explore at Machu Picchu.
