chile Cowboys and Volcanoes Ride the foothills of the Chilean Andes into a landscape of active volcanoes, ancient forests, glacial lakes and remote hot springs. Your guide is a real character and expert horseman, and will tell you everything about the surrounding country. We adapt this holiday according to your experience. Novices can enjoy a series of shorter rides. Experts can head off into the hills for a week-long trail ride. How active? The level of activity really depends on your experience. This is a superb area to learn to ride as the ranch has its own training ring and breeds its own horses. Ride criollo and criollo-arab cross horses, which are around 15hh, well trained and sure-footed. For experienced riders there is all manner of riding terrain so we can also offer trail rides lasting several days. The area is also wonderful for walking, mountain biking and even rafting. If you like the idea of combining riding with other activities, or if one of you rides and the other doesn't, then this is a great place to be. brief itinerary Sounds perfect? For details of what's included and more information see the detailed itinerary on our website or call us for a copy. For dates and prices see the enclosed sheet. To check availability please call us on 0845 22 55 058 or email info@pura-aventura.com. Pura Aventura Holiday Location How comfortable? The ideal place to stay is on the ranch in their simple guest house. The house has two bedrooms, one double and one with four beds, all sharing a bathroom and with plenty of communal space. We assume that you will have the place to yourself. By staying on the ranch you are living as one of the family and can relax and really get to know your surroundings, and the horses. The riding style is western, with `montura de monte' saddles (basically an old English army saddle with a sheepskin on top). This makes riding in Chile really quite comfortable. ARGENTIN A chile Santiago Not quite right? For a challenging small group ride which takes in some of this same area, try our Cross The Andes ride (p16). For the most spectacular scenery try our Patagonia Mountain Ride (p18) or for a luxurious riding holiday see our Argentina Estancia Ride (p20). Explore the Chilean Lake District on horseback at your own pace. Ride beautifully bred criollo-cross horses whilst staying in an informal family setting on a pretty ranch. Try walking, mountain biking and even rafting as well. · Day 1 Arrive at the ranch and meet your host family. · Day 2 Enjoy a relaxed ride into the Andes. · Day 3 Ride trails into a beautiful forest. · Day 4 Set off on a trail ride into the Andes. · Day 5 Ride to a high lake for a swim. · Day 6 Ride through a mountain valley. · Day 7 Travel home or continue your holiday.
