Pack in as much fun as possible without sacrificing the comforts of a decent bed and delicious meals. Combine walking, canoeing, mountain biking and white-water rafting. Stay in comfortable small hotels in quiet villages. · Day 1 Travel from Barcelona into the Pyrenees in time for an active afternoon. · Day 2 Walk up to a high pass in the Aigüestortes National Park for views of the Pyrenees. · Day 3 Spend all day white-water rafting. · Day 4 Morning to relax; afternoon walk in Aigüestortes. · Day 5 Explore the medieval town of Seu. · Day 6 Ride mountain bikes through the valley. · Day 7 Walk in the high meadows of the Sierra del Cadí. · Day 8 Return to Barcelona. How active? This holiday involves some reasonably strenuous walks and rafting. Walking paths are good, although in the higher Pyrenees conditions underfoot can be tougher with some long uphill sections. Long distances mean you should be `walking fit'. The river we run for rafting is a 52km stretch of grade III-IV water, making rafting fun and fast-flowing with some heartstopping moments. Kayaks are `sit on top' inflatable kayaks for one person. You take an exhilarating two-hour trip down a beautiful stretch of river. You do not need previous experience for rafting or kayaking. Mountain biking is fairly relaxed but you should be comfortable riding on good tracks. How comfortable? Over the course of the week you stay in two small rural hotels. The first is a family-run hotel in a mountain hamlet with amazing views and loads of character. Delicious and hearty evening meals are served family style. Your second accommodation is a first class rural hotel within just a few kilometres of the medieval town of Seu d'Urgell. On this holiday you will be part of a small group of eight people at most. You will have a Pura Aventura guide with you at all times and your transport is a comfortable private vehicle. The holiday starts and ends in Barcelona so you can easily extend your stay.
