brief itinerary Spain fr ga l an rt u spain Madrid ce Rioja Vineyard Weekend Treat yourself to an active, interesting and fun long weekend away in Rioja. Combine walking and vineyard tours with fine food and a charming hotel. This holiday packs a lot into just three days, but still remains relaxed and fun. Walk craggy landscapes and see birds of prey, dine in the region's finest restaurant and take part in a wine-tasting course, all in the company of your expert guide. How active? We fit a lot into this three-day trip but there is a gentle, natural flow of activities. Walking is the main activity. The longest route is moderate grade over 12km which takes between four and five hours. The walking is designed really to build up your appetite for delicious meals in the evenings but you should be used to hill walking to get the most from this holiday. po Pura Aventura Holiday Location Enjoy Rioja's unique combination of wine and walking in this fun and active short break. Fully guided over just three days, this trip fits comfortably into a long weekend. · Day 1 Visit Bilbao's Guggenheim museum, drive to La Rioja for dinner in a great restaurant. · Day 2 Walk through woods, past chapels to a pretty village surrounded by high cliffs. Wine-tasting course this evening. · Day 3 Walk through vineyards to a castle. Visit a fascinating wine museum then travel home. How comfortable? Stay in a newly opened, stylish four room casa rural, which is really more of a B&B than a hotel. It is located on the edge of a village to the south of the region, in the foothills away from the vineyards, giving you the best access to hiking - as well as the region's top restaurant. Groups are a maximum of eight plus your guide, with private transport throughout, starting and ending in Bilbao. Daytime meals tend to be picnics or informal tapas, but at night you eat in restaurants. Sounds perfect?
