Resorts: Chillán
An all season resort but in winter (June-September) this is the most extensive and serious ski resort in Chile. Stunning setting on the slopes of a dormant volcano, surrounded by forests and with its own hot springs. Wide slopes, great off-piste, and South Americas longest chair lift as well as enough variety to satisfy any group of skiers. There are two sensible hotel choices here, Gran Termas and Piramihuida. The Gran Termas is a 5* hotel and, in terms of the overall quality of rooms, service, food and décor, is the best ski hotel in Chile. The hotel is ski in/out. The hotel has its own volcanic hot springs and spa. Piramihuida is a more informal option based in a village 7km from the slopes. There are regular shuttle buses to get you up to the resort. This is a great option for anyone on a tighter budget or if you like the idea of staying in a proper Chilean village. You can either fly or take a train from Santiago to Chillán. Total travel times are similar for both options. Setting 405km south of Santiago. A great looking resort on the slopes of a volcano in the Lake District. Fantastic on and off piste skiing with lots of powder. Hotel Gran Termas de Chillán, easily the best ski hotel in Chile.
TThe charming Hotel Piramihuida 7km from the slopes. Lovely runs including some forested, wide slopes and no crowds.
