Walk Chile Vineyards & Volcanoes
From the top you have views right across the Andes into Argentina. Beneath your feet, the volcano smoulders away. On rare occasions you might catch a glimpse of the lava bubbling in the crater. For anyone not feeling so energetic, Xabi will make sure that alternative activities are arranged. (b,l)
11 Nov | Pucón | Raft the Trancura River
With its crystalline whitewater, this glacier-fed river is the perfect place to raise your pulse while letting you appreciate the beautiful scenery. Take your eyes off the river in front of you to see Villarica behind, dominating the horizon. The river is a great fun combination of grade III and IV rapids. After a few fun hours in the water lunch is a traditional asado (spit roast lamb) on a ranch in the hills high above the river. Relax around the ranch this afternoon. (b,l)
12 Nov | Puerto Varas | Travel South
After breakfast drive south towards the southern end of the beautiful Lake District. The drive today is the longest of your trip at around 5 hours. Along with other stops to break the journey, we stop for lunch about half way in an excellent restaurant with views over the turquoise waters of the Rio Bueno. Complete your journey with the remaining 1 hour driving done after lunch. Your destination today is the town of Puerto Varas on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. Relax before dinner in a very fine restaurant. (b,l,d)

09 Nov | Pucón | Ride into the Andes
Today you reach the Chilean Lake district proper a landscape of high Andean lakes, snow-capped volcanoes and beautiful forests. Stay in charming cabins near the town of Pucón. Surrounded by pretty woodland on the banks of the river a few minutes from town, they form your base for the next three nights. What makes this part of Chile so special is the scenery combined with a fantastic variety of high quality activities, all within a few miles. On this first day you enjoy a relaxed ride into the Andes. Don your chaps and saddle up to ride cowboystyle through a beautiful area of forests, mountains, volcanoes and lakes. Riding well trained and cared for horses is a wonderful experience - they are a pleasure to handle, even for total beginners. The saddles are traditionally draped in a sheepskin for comfort. Your riding guide is a local personality who used to train Olympic riding teams before retiring here to his peaceful ranch. (b,l,d)
Walking in the Lake District.
13 Nov | Puerto Varas | Walk along a lake
A relaxing day to visit the Vincente Perez Rosales National Park. Walk a very pretty trail which leads you across open landscapes, sometimes woods, but almost always with views of Lago Todos los Santos on one side, the snow capped cone of Osorno Volcano on the other and the peak of Puntiagudo ahead of you. The walk is a relaxed three hours. Walk one of the short trails on the skirt of the volcano for views over Lago Todos los Santos, often referred to as the most beautiful lake in the world. (b,l)
10 Nov | Pucón | Volcano walk
Rise early to climb to the smoking, snow-capped summit of Villarica volcano. The ascent starts from the lower slopes and takes about 5 hours. For the first part of the day you have black sand underfoot the route; hard packed snow for the second. The going is slow but steady until you come out at the 2,600m summit.
