Exciting Super Jeep Tour around the classical sights of South West Iceland, known as the Golden Circle, in combination with the following activities (optional): 1. Snowmobiling Tour on white snowfields or Langjokull Icelands second largest glacier. 2. Quad Biking through mountainous desert highlands. 3. River Rafting on Hvita Glacial River. (May-October Only). 4. Snorkelling in Thingvellir. (May-October Only). A chance to see and experience some of Icelands greatest natural phenomena, geology and history, including a 1 Hour Snowmobiling, Quad Biking, River Rafting or Snorkelling Activity. Highlights include Gullfoss waterfall, the queen of Iceland's waterfalls, the nearby world-famous Geysir geothermal field, where hot springs are in abundance, and watch as Strokkur erupts to 20m every few minutes. A stop is made for lunch (optional), then we visit Nesjavellir, a high temperature geothermal area en route way to the exceptionally beautiful Thingvellir National Park where The Althing parliament was founded over 1000 years ago. The Great Atlantic rift is clearly visible here, and you will be able to stand where the Viking settlers stood centuries ago.
DT 03: THORSMORK £160.00 One of Icelands most beautiful and glittering pearls DURATION: 8/9 Hours. DEPARTURES: Daily at 08:30 Hours, January-December. A day of adventure, driving along Icelands south coast to one of the Icelanders most beautiful and favourite places Thórsmörk The Woods of Thor. This nature reserve is full of flowers, surrounded by glaciers and snowy mountain peaks. A number of small gullies and rough glacial rivers will be crossed on the way into the valley, with a stop at the beautiful waterfall Seljalandsfoss. Onwards to Thórsmörk, visiting the glacial lagoon of the magnificent Eyjafjallajokull glacier which many people hike up, and cross the deep and roaring rivers guarding the wooded surrounds of Thórsmörk, with some amazing viewpoints. South Iceland is a lowland region of lush farmland, glaciers, sandy coastline and striking waterfalls. An area of historical significance as the saga of Njall occurred here, as well as other significant historic events. Visit the glacier Myrdalsjokull where optional snowmobiling and Dog Sledging is available. There is an opportunity to stand behind a plummeting waterfall, and take in the magnificent bird cliffs that surround the small town of Vik. En route home we drive through the greenhouse village of Hveragerdi where we can stop for souvenirs.
Note: November-February Min. 4 Passengers required. A truly unique and unforgettable excursion to the Pearl of Icelands Central Highlands Landmannalaugar a must see for nature lovers. The interior route passes lava fields of different ages, small un-bridged rivers, black ash, scoria desert and volcanic craters which make up a moonlike landscape. Visiting Mt. Hekla on the way to Icelands most extraordinary geological wonders, and passing through the magnificent valley Thjórsárdalur where the river Thjórsá, Icelands longest river, flows through its kingdom, and stops at the cobalt blue lake Ljótipollur, where the craters walls are glittering with rusty red rocks. As we drive up to Landmannalaugar, the beautiful lake, Frostastaavatn welcomes us. Surrounded by extremely colourful and majestic mountains, with a natural hot pool to bathe in, and lava fields to hike through, Landmannalaugar is definitely magnificent - an unforgettable experience. A walk on ash, through lava, beautiful mountain scenery over mountains, glaciers and bathing in a natural hot pool are among the many highlights.
