T
he trip of a lifetime! That really is the only way to describe our Borneo Adventure. The myth, legend and romance that surround this place the land of the head-hunters, home to the Wild Man of Borneo and the land beneath the wind, is second to none. Starting on two wheels, we journey around this last great eastern frontier for some unforgettable riding. Through ancient rainforest we descend to stunning coastlines, all like no place on earth. The biking here is non technical throughout and thus suitable for all levels as we explore the local villages, tea plantations and coastal trails of the region. It would be crazy to go so far and limit things to two wheels which is why we continue to sample both the diverse and famous delights of this jungle paradise on foot.

Mid-point of the trip, we take a two day supported trek to the summit of the mythical Mount Kinabalu, at 4,101 metres the highest peak in the region. We then trek with indigenous people into the jungle where we go native and learn basic survival skills, sleep in a traditional long house with the Rungus tribe and paddle native canoes through mangrove swamps, while looking for such wildlife as the comical proboscis monkeys. Its all linked together with plenty of classic dirt and coastal biking, and includes the option of a visit to the world famous Orangutan Sanctuary at Sepolik.

We begin our adventure in northern Borneos, and undoubtedly Malaysias, premier nature and adventure destination, Sabah. This is one of the worlds last great wildernesses, a dense jungle home to thousands of species of flora and fauna and a must for those looking for a place that has that something extra!
