A once in a lifetime classic route that takes us over 235 miles from Loch Hourn on the west coast near Skye to Montrose on the east coast. On our first major climb we are rewarded with great views looking back over the dramatic Cullin Mountains on Skye, which paints the picture for the rugged views to come. We reach the Great Glen, follow the Caledonian canal and have the opportunity for some Nessie spotting. As the miles and days pile up we tackle the awesome Corrieyairack Pass and straddle the side of the majestic Cairngorm Mountains before swinging passed Balmoral Castle for tea! At 772m the Corrieyairack Pass is a true testing wilderness climb followed by an exhilaratingly technical decent and represents Scottish mountain biking at its dramatic best. We are rewarded with a night in Tomintoul a 17th century village and the highest in Scotland one of many opportunities for a wee dram! The trip delves deep into Glenmore Forest Park, passing through the remote Braes of Abernethy and we tackle some great river crossings. Following drover roads, forest tracks, singletrack and minor roads over mountain ranges, and along spectacular lochs, this is a tremendous yet strenuous route, perfect for those up for a challenge.
