France - Mountain Challenges
M
ost people associate serious road cycling with the French Alps and not without good reason. Striding majestically between Geneva and the Côte d'Azur, it holds more of professional cycling's most famous mountain stages than any other. It is also home to some of the highest, most dramatic, most challenging and most important mountain passes in Europe.
Raid Alpine
9 DAYS, GRADE 5 The endurance-testing Raid Alpine is an amazing journey between Geneva's Lake Léman and the shores of the Mediterranean just west of Nice. This is a true road cycling challenge designed to appeal to experienced riders, taking us over 43 categorised cols, including many made famous in Le Tour.
Classic Passes
8 DAYS, GRADE 3-4 Tick off the big name passes during a week of superb riding in a region of dramatic scenery. The Colombière, Telegraph and Galibier are all on the itinerary. No alpine tour is of course complete without a pilgrimage to the great Alp d'Huez. It is a must for those who love to climb and marks a fitting end to our journey.
Pyrenees
10 DAYS, GRADE 4 But there's much more going on in the mountains of France and the Pyrenees can't be overlooked. Our Pyrenees Mountain Challenge traverses the entire length of the Pyreneen Massif and it does so in style as we take in the Tourmalet, Aubisque and the Aspin amongst other Tour De France legends.
