Hanoi
Laos & Cambodia
After time exploring this charming town we transfer onto the island of Don Daeng for our evenings accommodation, where you can relax with a drink and enjoy the sunset over the Mekong and the Wat Phou temple. As we travel south, the scenery of the Mekong becomes more dramatic. At Phnom Han Chay, its certainly worth the climb to the top of this small hill as the views over the Mekong are superb and you can learn more about Buddhism. The Mekong adventure ends as we enter the capital Phnom Penh. After a relaxing day exploring Phnom Penh we transfer and cycle to Siem Reap, our base as we explore the truly amazing complex of Angkor Wat. Its a special way to end a special holiday.

T
he majestic Mekong river provides the backdrop for this gentle cycling holiday as we follow the river from Southern Laos into Cambodia. We meander through the backroads of a historical and unique landscape as our journey flows past a series of natural, cultural and historical wonders. After a stopover in Bangkok, the start of our cycling journey in Laos is the town of Pakse. Having had a relaxing introduction, we ride to the UNESCO world heritage site at Wat Phou and then continue to the former ancient city and old French colonial town of Champassak.
We visit the Xe Pian National protected area, one of the most biologically diversified area in Southeast Asia with wild elephants and birds such as Giant Ibis and Sarus Crane, it is also home to several hilltribes. Our last full day in Laos takes us to the southern most part and one of the natural jewels of the Mekong river, the 4000 islands. Crossing now into Cambodia we cycle through a quiet countryside of small villages, green fields and forests. We continue downstream to Kratie, where it is possible to see Irrawaddy Dolphins, a species of dolphins that only live in the Mekong.
