WHAT TO EXPECT
KOTU An up-and-coming area This is a resort area that has really developed over the past couple of years with a compact cluster of new bars and restaurants being built, although it remains more low key than Kololi. Past the Bungalow Beach hotel there are now a couple of beach bars and Destiny's nightclub. The beach is ideal for families as it is flat and sandy and the golf course is nearby. Kombo Beach, Bungalow Beach, Bakotu, Sunset Beach.
BAKAU An authentic African town Bakau is a bustling town with a maze of small dirt roads and is an ideal area to experience the real Africa. There are a few restaurants serving traditional Gambian dishes along with banks, supermarkets, post office and the popular Kachikally crocodile pool. There is a very good craft market and local fruit and vegetable market. African Village. Ngala Lodge is just outside Bakau.
CAPE POINT Quieter area with fantastic beach There are far more tourists in this area than in the last few years and the beach is one of the best in the country. There are a small number of restaurants here. Bakau is a ten minute walk away. Ocean Bay, Cape Point, Sunbeach.
