Dubbed the Flower of the Orient by the Venetians, Zante is one of those magical places that stirs the soul, fires the imagination and snatches the heart
Zante is, quite simply, stunning. With ice-white sands, jagged cliffs, and flowers that cloak the island in colour and scent - this dream isle is utterly irresistible. Sandy bays, coves, cliffs and caves ring the island like a magnificent necklace. On the east coast, it's all about powdery swathes like Tsilivi and Alikes. Over on the west coast, the island plunges steeply into the sea, with mysterious caves pitting the cliffs. Here lies the famous bay, Smugglers Cove, where a half-buried shipwreck glints in the sun. In the south, meanwhile, you'll find the popular beaches of Laganas and Gerakas. But it's not just holidaymakers looking for a place on the
southern sands, the rare Loggerhead turtles find a home here, too. Don't miss a trip to Zante Town, the island's capital.The earthquake of 1953 razed the beautiful old town to the ground but this hardy little gem has since risen from the rubble, determined to reinstate its former charm. Tables and chairs of cafés and restaurants clutter the cobbles of the town's main street, inviting you to enjoy a drink in the sun. Days in Zante are made for sunning, swimming and sightseeing.Then, as night falls over the island, take your pick from sleepy villages dotted with traditional tavernas or bubbling resorts brimming with busy bars.The choice is yours.

Explore& the beautiful Blue Grotto on the northern tip of Zante. Famous for its blue waters & rock formations. Sail& to the paradise island of Marathonissi. Visit& Kefalonia, the island of Captain Corelli fame, which is just a short ferry journey away. One of the sunniest Greek islands, Kefalonia's tiny fishing villages are a joy to explore. Festivals& Carnival in Zante Town in August. Colourful floats converge on the town where comedians in fancy dress entertain. There's dancing in the streets and even a cheese-eating competition.
