Datca Peninsula & Dalyan Escape to this unspoilt region of Turkey with its striking natural scenery, wondrous wildlife and fascinating history. If you're looking for unspoilt beauty, look no further than this enchanting region of Turkey. Head for the pin-drop peaceful Datca Peninsula and soak up the awe-inspiring scenery of emerald-green forests and pretty coves. Laid-back and wonderfully friendly, the peninsula sits west of Marmaris and separates the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. Famous for the three B's' - bal' honey, badem' almonds and balik' fish, this is arguably one of Turkey's most off-the-tourist-trail regions. Head east and you'll arrive in the hushed hideaway of Hisaronu. Not to be confused with the neon-lit Hisaronu near Fethiye, this traditional village overlooks a Tiffany- blue bay and is dotted with a handful of shops, restaurants and sandy beaches. Or perhaps it'll be the little town of Dalyan, a haven for relaxation. It's retained its authentic ambience and charm - pretty streets are laced with traditional restaurants, charming shops and a colourful bazaar. Enjoy a day on the sweeping five kilometre sandbar beach of Iztuzu. It's one of Turkey's most wow-factor beaches, voted the world's best in the 90's. And don't miss the historical sights, including the ancient city of Caunos and the rock tombs along the Lycian Coast. Wherever you head here, this picture-postcard region will sweep you off your feet.
