You probably dont need us to sing the praises of the Amalfi Coast. Chances are you already know its pretty special. But were going to anyway. Because no matter how much praise has been heaped upon this spellbinding slither of Italy, it still deserves more. Lots more.The 43 kilometre journey from Sorrento to Salerno lets you in on why its one of the worlds favourite coastlines. Its a dizzying journey all right, and not just because the road must have a thousand turns. Here lie some of the most dramatic cliffs youve ever clapped eyes on.Vineyards that shimmer with the promise of the crisp wine to come. Lemon trees loaded with blossom that gives off the sweet scent of a summer. And oleanders and bougainvillea that colour the landscape like

Dont miss& a visit to Pompeii. A city petrified in time from an earthquake in AD 62, Mount Vesuvius buried the town in 6m of pumice and ash. Serious excavation only began in 1748 and you can see buildings with surviving sculptures and paintings, graffiti still visible on walls and the casts of people who were literally turned to stone. Explore& the charmingly chaotic city of Naples. Dominated by Mount Vesuvius and backed by impressive mountain ranges, Naples boasts a wealth of architecture, historical treasures and some of the worlds finest archaeological remains.With an endless selection of eateries and enticing trattorie, sit with a steaming bowl of pasta and a glass of sumptuous red and watch scooters zip by. Gaze& in wonder at Paestums three imposing Doric temples, which are in excellent condition considering they date from around the 5th century BC.You can see the Temple of Hera I, the Temple of Neptune and the Temples of Ceres. Festivals& Feast of SantAntonio in Anacapri in June, a great opportunity to see a traditional Italian religious procession, with a soul-stirring mass at the chapel of SantAntonio and a parade through the streets " Wagner Festival in Ravello from July to September, with classical concerts held in the beautiful Villa Rufolo - the place that is said to have profoundly inspired the German composer Wagner back in 1880, hence the festivals name " Sorrento Summer of Music from July to September, starring great names from the world of music who perform against the charming backdrop of the cloisters of San Francesco Monastery " Festival of the Sea in SantAgnello in July, an event celebrating local seafood recipes " Lemon Festival in Massalubrense in August, featuring stalls laden with lemon honey, ice-cream, mousse, baba and that most famous of Neapolitan tipples, limoncello.
