Esteval dos Mouros is a tiny village surrounded by unspoilt countryside and the impressive scenery of the Serra do Caldeirao, with just a typical Portuguese coffee house to provide the locals with a gathering place for lively discussion or a gossip over a cup of strong coffee. Our eponymous villa occupies a 19th-century village building which adjoins the neighbouring house, and has been beautifully restored in keeping with its venerable age. Many of its original features remain intact, such as the replace, thick stone walls and the old oven with its massive chimney.There are three bedrooms, a twin and an en suite double on the ground oor, and a single room reached via a spiral staircase sits in the loft, which has been stylishly converted with a small sitting area overlooking the pool at the rear of the house.
A house of more traditional Portuguese charm than this newly renovated property would be difcult to come by, and its location in the heart of Tavira makes it even more appealing.This typically Portuguese house is situated in the old part of town, within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants.Tucked away in one of the small, cobbled streets just below the castle, the property is perfect for those wanting to be in a central location, but well away from mainstream tourism. The house has a newly restored, authentic doorway based on an old Moorish design, which makes an impressive feature and a lasting impression on all visitors. There are lovely views to enjoy from the bedroom, but these are outdone by the fabulous roof terrace, perfect for sun-worshippers or for enjoying a sundowner before dinner.
