Parga Majestic mountains tower above enticing sandy crescents that are tucked into the forested valley below. Parga is the nearest thing to a beautiful, bubbling island town on the mainland. It has a vibrant community and its pretty harbourfront brims with life. The quayside tavernas are popular for their lovely views and lively ambience, but dont miss out on exploring the quaint backstreets too, lined with charming old houses and colourful shops, where some of the towns finest eateries can be found. During the day, Parga offers a surprising variety of sand and shingle beaches to choose from. The little town beach - a flat five-minute walk from the harbour - is sheltered by a group of tiny islands. Pargas other famous beach, Lichnos, can be reached by boat from the harbour, as can several secluded coves dotted along this coast. A few miles up the coast, Sivota is a disarmingly unpretentious seaside village with an equally fine choice of beaches. Sivota may lack Pargas historic appeal, but it more than makes up for this with its sleepy charm and laid-back ambience. Sivotas focal point is its enchantingly pretty harbour, an attractive traffic-free promenade where just under a dozen tavernas and cafés set out their tables. The nearest string of beaches is a five-minute walk to the north over a low headland (those with walking difficulties should note that Sivota is considerably flatter than Parga), whilst the tree-shaded cove of Zavia and the wide Bay of Mega Ammos lie a little further to the south.
