In an elevated location two kilometres from the market town of Estoi, the Alcaria Branca is a country villa surrounded by rugged countryside. Estoi is home to a mini-market, a bank and a post office, a few small bars and a gigantic Sunday market once a month. The area even has its own Roman ruins, dating back some two thousand years. Eight kilometres away, at the port town of Olhão, small ferries visit various gorgeous unspoilt beaches on the offshore islands.
