Casa da Figuera is in the Serra e Mar residential area, with the spectacular hills of Monchique to the north. Three kilometres away is the Le Meridien Penina Golf and Resort and the resort village of Alvor with its golden beach and varied amenities is nine kilometres south. Plum, peach, lemon and banana trees all grow in the beautiful gardens at this villa whose atmosphere is very much that of a traditional country cottage. The living room views the swimming pool and terrace and has exposed ceiling beams and polished floors. The dining suite looks onto the garden and there is a small courtyard outside the compact kitchen. There are three pretty bedrooms, a double with an en suite bathroom and access onto the terrace, a twin with a private bathroom and a twin with a shower room adjacent. In this lovely

Three splendid golf courses are in the area at Palmares, Boavista and Parque da Floresta and a leisurely drive inland will uncover the scenic beauty of the Monchique mountains. This irresistibly romantic little cottage is at once a treat and a retreat. The studio style lounge-diner has a fine, woodpanelled pitched ceiling and is furnished with a sofa, rattan armchairs, a traditional wooden dining table and
some lovely rustic touches. A partly stone clad wall forms the breakfast bar to the kitchenette, a beautifully furnished twin bedroom has side-by-side beds and there is an attractively tiled shower room. Outside the open terrace descends to a delightful lawn-enclosed swimming pool with distant views across the fields towards the ocean.
