Surrounded by rural tranquillity, this cosy villa is four kilometres from the village of Moncarrapacho with just a few neighbouring houses for company. The port town of Olhão, famous for its renowned fish restaurants, is seven kilometres away and offers a quaint ferry service to some of the region's finest beaches on the off shore islands. Villa Muxima is a traditional-style house, with a pleasant blend of whitewashed walls, cool terracotta-tiled floors and homely decorative touches such as a wood-burning fire in the lounge/diner which adjoins the compact kitchen. One of the air-conditioned bedrooms has an en suite bathroom and the other overlooks the swimming pool and shares a bathroom with an extra twin bedroom that is available for the fifth occupant.
Patio doors open from both the lounge and dining areas onto a shaded, slightly raised patio overlooking the swimming pool. The crazy-paved poolside terrace is a lovely spot, flanked by palm-scattered lawns and an earth garden and enjoying a pleasingly private and delightfully tranquil atmosphere, with views across the surrounding tree-clad countryside. Casa Barbara can be found in Pechão, a traditional Algarvean village four kilometres from the thriving fish market in the port town of Olhão from which small ferry-boats chug across to offshore islands boasting magnificent sandy beaches. The nearest mainland beach is at Fuzeta, approximately twelve kilometres away. Two kilometres outside Pechão, on a country lane, Casa Barbara is a carefully restored, rustic- style house dating back around a hundred years. A beamed ceiling, thick walls and an open fireplace retain the rustic theme of the living room, along with arched open doorways accessing other parts of the house, including the country kitchen.
There are two pretty twin bedrooms overlooking the rear garden and the swimming pool and sharing a bathroom. The third bedroom, a double, has countryside views, an en suite bathroom reached by a couple of steps and an adjoining sitting room. Casa Barbara has a good-sized swimming pool fringed by lawns and there is a spacious outside dining area alongside the barbecue.
