Programme
Day 1 Arrival Flight or rail from the UK to Zürich and 1st class rail transfer to Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne. Day 2 Free day on Lake Lucerne Take advantage of the included SwissCard and enjoy one of the many top excursions in the area. Visit the Dragon Mountain Mt. Pilatus or the Queen of Mountains Mt Rigi. In both cases the excursion can be combined with a delightful cruise on Lake Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne. Day 3 Golden Pass to Interlaken Depart from historic Lucerne and enjoy the first part of the GoldenPass route over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken, passing blue lakes, green meadows and age old chalets along the way. Overnight in Interlaken. Day 4 Snow & Ice on the Jungfraujoch Enjoy the best of the beautiful Bernese Oberland. First take the train from Interlaken Ost via Lauterbrunnen and Wengen to the Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the famous Eiger. You then take the Jungfrau railway via "Eiger Gletscher" to the Jungfraujoch the highest railway station in Europe at 11,300ft (3,454m) with some breathtaking views of the Aletsch glacier, the longest in the Alps at 22km (16.3 miles) and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once on top you can visit the Ice Palace, enjoy a husky sledge ride or simply admire the spectacular view from the Sphinx observation terrace. Overnight in Interlaken Day 5 Delightful views and hiking possibilities Excursion to the First, one of Grindelwalds house mountains. The aerial gondola takes you to the summit (2,168m/7,112ft) and one of the most impressive views of the Swiss Alps.You can also start many easy and level walks from here which are ideal to explore the alpine world around you on foot and at your own leisure. Overnight in Interlaken. Day 6 Golden Pass to Montreux All aboard the Golden Pass train for the journey in the 1st class panorama carriage from Interlaken through the rural Simmental region to Zweisimmen and on to Montreux. Do not miss the great views of Lake Geneva and its terraced vineyards. Overnight in Montreux. Day 7 Chocolate Train Chocolate and cheese is the theme of the day. In the morning board the Chocolate Train and enjoy a coffee and croissant en route to Gruyère. Once there you will visit one of the many cheese factories in the area. Afterwards, take the train to Broc and visit the Nestlé/Cailler chocolate factory. Here you will be shown a film about chocolate making, visit the factory and attend a chocolate tasting. Overnight in Montreux. Day 8 Departure Rail transfer to airport or Swiss border and flight or rail back to the UK.
