We will visit Zion, Bryce and Arches National Parks, renowned for their beautiful rock formations, and also the world famous Grand Canyon. The tour will also take in Monument Valley, which has been the setting of many American films. Bryce Canyon is the perfect place of natural beauty to witness the eclipse with Dr John Mason. Insider's view The breathtaking landscapes of America's West have fascinated me since my first visit more than a decade ago and so it was with great delight that I returned in 2011 to plan this eclipse tour. Zion Canyon is a favourite with its towering sandstone walls and lush valley along the Virgin River. Bryce is the prettiest of canyons with pastel coloured rocks which stand out so dramatically against the blue sky. In Utah, geology became so apparent when I travelled on to the Arches National Park and marvelled at the cliffs, balancing rocks and many arches. Afternoon tour of the canyon exploring various points of interest along the rim and magnificent views. Day 3 Free day in Grand Canyon National Park with the opportunity to take optional walks in and around the canyon. Other activities such as helicopter flights can be booked locally. Day 4-5 Drive to Monument Valley and enjoy optional walks and cultural visits in this classic landscape. Day 6-7 Morning drive to the incredible Arches National Park for exploration. The following day various optional walks and cultural visits can be organised. Day 1 Fly to Las Vegas, transfer to hotel. Free evening to around the canyon in the afternoon. This evening Dr John Mason will present his eclipse briefing. Day 9 Eclipse Day - This morning you will be free to explore Bryce Canyon. In the afternoon you will transfer to our hand picked observation point for maximum visibility. Following the eclipse you will enjoy a celebration meal. Day 10-11 Stopping at scenic points en route we travel to Zion National Park. Here you have a day and a half to relax and explore the park. Day 12 We depart to Las Vegas watching the scenery change, last chance for shopping in this bustling city. Day 13-14 Free morning in Las Vegas. Depart for the airport early afternoon for your overnight flight home. Day 8 Drive to Bryce Canyon with optional walks in and U TA H N E VA D A Bryce Canyon Arches NP Essentials Most parks offer a selection of trails to suit different abilities, giving you a great opportunity to see these natural wonders. Climate Regions visited on this tour are dry year round. Temperatures vary at altitude so you can expect heat in Las Vegas but decidedly cooler in the evening at Bryce Canyon.
