Carrying approximately 100 passengers, the cabins and public rooms offer a high degree of comfort. Expert and friendly crew are on hand to look after you and there is a large observation lounge as well as an open bridge policy. You will also have a full expedition/naturalist team to give talks on the wildlife, natural environment and history of the area. These experts will accompany your onshore zodiac excursions which typically take place twice a day. Essentials Minimum age: 5 years You should be in good health and be able to get in and out of a zodiac inflatable boat. Onshore walks are optional. This expedition cruise is open to all age groups. Domestic flight, expedition cruise ship, zodiac inflatables Accommodation is in twin share/triple cabins with en suite facilities. Adults will need to share a cabin with their children. Cabins subject to availability. 12 breakfasts, 9 lunches & 10 dinners Antarctica Antarctica is still a remote and isolated place н truly the last frontier on earth. The only realistic approach is by sea and the expedition ships we use will ensure the best possible experience of this untamed wilderness. You'll transfer to the shore in inflatable `zodiac' boats accompanied by the ship's Antarctica experts. Drake Passage Leaving Ushuaia, you'll head south across Drake Passage passing increasingly large icebergs as you near the Antarctic Peninsula and spotting wildlife along the way. You'll have the chance to step ashore on to a land of ice-capped mountains, crevassed glaciers and ice-filled fjords. The penguin rookeries are a noisy wildlife highlight on land while at sea you may spot seals, whales, birds and н lower down the food chain н krill. A stop at one of the former British scientific research stations provides historical interest; it will probably be the most isolated museum you'll ever visit! You return to Ushuaia via Drake Passage, reluctantly leaving the icebergs behind. Transport Accommodation Meals included As this is an expedition cruise, the exact programme may vary to take advantage of the best weather conditions and movements of the wildlife. This is an open age voyage with many different nationalities travelling onboard. Families are very welcome on the Polar Star although onboard life and facilities are not specifically tailored for children. A Group Leader does not accompany this trip.
