Trip Highlights
Mountain Walking High up in the Alps, the town of Alpe
d'Huez is an ideal setting for a week of mountain activities. The walking is fantastic, taking in views across the wide valleys and jagged peaks of the surrounding area. White Water Rafting & Biking You can also have a go at some more exhilarating mountain sports. Explore the area on mountain bike and go white water rafting down the rivers into the valleys. Visalp Pass We have included the Visalp Pass in this trip which gives you access to a huge number of activities from indoor climbing wall to mini golf and tennis. Alpine Activities There is a wide variety of activities on offer in Alpe d'Huez (additional charge) from horse riding to summer luging. You can make as much or as little use of the hundreds of kilometres of cycling and walking routes as you wish.
Is it suitable for my family?
Minimum age 12 years. This is a centre based itinerary, so there is little travelling. Some hiking is involved, an ability to swim is needed for the white water rafting. As a keen skier and avid follower of the Tour de France I leapt at the chance to visit Alpe d'Huez in the summer. The alpine scenery I knew well from the winter was transformed into the most wonderfully fertile and colourful landscape, perfect for hikes. The highlight for me was the mountain biking - a great mix of challenging climbs, fast downhills and laid back touring. David Bray - Region Manager
