Morocco & Tunisia Morocco is a feast for the senses. Mouthwatering tagines meet parched deserts. Bright and bustling bazaars meet traditional Berber villages and cosmopolitan cities melt into the remote mountain retreats, and dramatic Atlantic Coast. Dip into the colourful labyrinths of medieval souks where shopkeepers and artisans dye wool, stitch slippers and beat metal. Sip mint tea in the cool, fresh air around the Berber villages and look out over the spectacular Atlas Mountain range. Don't forget to explore the pirates' hide-out Essaouira, or take a camel ride across the dunes. In El Djem's massive Roman amphitheatre you can almost hear the crowd roaring as gladiators fought, or go back to the future to Luke Skywalker's home in Matamata. From camel rides through the the Sahara to white-water rafting and trekking in the mountains, North Africa has it all! Trekking in the Atlas Mountains, FYM, FWE, FMK, FXAS Only a short drive from cosmopolitan Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains feel like a world away. Trekking here is fantastic and great for first timers. Wander amidst warm red rock, call by friendly Berber villages and reach snowy peaks for views of the Atlantic and even the Sahara! Exertion levels differ from trip to trip so there's something for everyone. Ait Benhaddou, FMK, FAS Recognise this place from the movies? Ait Benhaddou stole the show in Gladiator as the dramatic desert arena and is one of the finest ancient sites in North Africa. Preserved by the dry desert sands and set in a lush valley, it is an incredible sight to behold and one of my most memorable experiences in Morocco Djemaa el-Fna, FYM, FWE, FMK, FAS, FXAS Nothing compares to the bustling main square of Marrakech at night. Exotic spices and kebab smoke entice you, whilst beating drums, snake charmers and lively bazaars entertain you. My tip would be to find a quiet cafe and watch the evening unfold over a delicious Tagine meal and glass of mint tea. Shopping in the Souks, FYM, FWE, FMK, FAS, FXAS Haggle for bright slippers and tasty treats and lose yourself in the labyrinth of souks for one of Morocco's most fun and hectic experiences. Watch craftsmen weaving carpets and engraving plates. Buy exotic souvenirs over sweet mint tea, A real must for anyone visiting Morocco!
