From the lively backstreets and diverse temples of Kathmandu to the jungle and wildlife of Chitwan National Park and the traditional hill village of Bandipur, this two-week trip is the perfect way to see the mesmerising country of Nepal.
Style of Travel
Transport used and guides on your trip: Typically we use a comfortable charter bus with ample room for the group. The vehicle has large windows for you to enjoy the passing scenery. The optional walks are guided by your expert local Group Leader and a variety of knowledgeable guides. Your accommodation: Hotels (7 nights), lodge (3 nights), tea-house (1 night) & guesthouse (2 nights). The hotels we use are comfortable en suite properties. The Old Inn at Bandipur is a charming and atmospheric guesthouse with simply furnished rooms and shared facilities. The teahouse provides accommodation in 3-4 bed rooms and tasty hearty food. Dining out: Trip price includes: 14 breakfasts, 3 lunches & 3 dinners. The food in Nepal is excellent. You will have wonderful Nepalese curries for dinner (subtly different to those from India) and vegetarian food is no problem. Food while trekking will be nourishing, to keep you going! Kathmandu and Pokhara have a full range of international options.

Medieval City of Kathmandu
Your Himalayan adventure begins in the ancient capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. You'll visit Hindu holy shrines at Pashupatinath and join the hustle and bustle of daily life in Durbar Square. From here you drive to the tiny hill village of Bandipur, untouched by modern tourism with superb views across the Marsyangdi river valley to the Himalaya beyond.

En route from Kathmandu to Bandipur, you will have the unique opportunity to stop and wonder at the Big Fig - a huge banyan tree with aerial roots.
Pokhara & Chitwan National Park
The two centres of Pokhara provide contrasting views of Nepal one a modern tourist section, the other is the old town, built in traditional Newari style. This is an ideal base for walking, and there's an optional overnight trek to Ghandruk with excellent views of Macchapucchare (Fishtail Mountain). You then drive to Chitwan NP for jungle safaris, to hopefully see rare rhinos and tigers, by elephant, boat, jeep and on foot before returning to Kathmandu.
Comfort Level
Graded `easy', the walks on this trip are on fairly simple terrain. There is one, overnight `moderate' walk to Ghandruk (1982m with 900m ascent), but it is optional. If you choose not to do it, you can be accommodated in Pokhara.
