Any school group that embarks on a journey through Peru is in for the extraordinary. From the high Andes to parched deserts and lost civilisations, your group will sail across Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world and meet the indigenous people, who still inhabit its islands, visit colourful markets then take the train to see one of the greatest sights on earth - Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas.

Suggested itinerary
Day 1/2 Puno 3827m (1330m) Fly to
Juliaca via Lima and transfer to Puno. Free time to acclimatise to the altitude. Day 3 Lake Titicaca Sail across Lake Titicaca and visit the reed islands of the Uros people. Day 4 Cusco 3300m Travel to the former Inca capital, Cusco, stopping at ruins and villages and passing spectacular mountain scenery along the way. Day 5 Cusco Explore Cusco and admire the intricate Inca stonework at the vast fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Day 6 Sacred Valley Drive to the fertile Sacred Valley, once the centre of the Inca world. Visit colourful Pisac Market and the ruined fortress of Ollantaytambo

Day 7 Machu Picchu Choose from
optional activities. Board the train to the small town of Aquas Calientes, the gateway town to Machu Picchu. Day 8 Machu Picchu Early start aboard the train to Machu Picchu. Explore the lost city of the Incas with your guide, Return to Cusco by train in the late afternoon. Day 9 Lima Take an afternoon flight to Lima and enjoy a city tour Day 10 Lima Visit Project Peru and learn more about sustainable tourism and their work with disadvantaged children in Lima. Day 11 Fly Home There is no physical difficulty, so anyone in good health can take part - heat, humidity, and most importantly, altitude do need to be taken into consideration.
