Arequipa and Colca Canyon
white city of Arequipa has a distinct colonial charm and is home to the quaint Santa Catalina convent. From here the road takes you past volcanoes and into the mountains. Deeper than the Grand Canyon, the remote Colca Canyon offers stunning mountain scenery, typical Andean villages and the world's best chances of viewing condors in flight.
Lake Titicaca
Legendary birthplace of the Inca empire and famed for the floating reed islands of
the Uros Indians, Lake Titicaca is reputedly the world's highest navigable lake. You'll have the chance to visit the reed islands and witness the traditional way of life on the island of Taquile.
Machu Picchu and Cusco
Staying in the Sacred Valley, you take in the local ruins and
markets before reaching Machu Picchu, the fabled `lost city' of the Incas. These incredibly complete ruins, sitting on their mountain perch, are simply breathtaking. Spending the night nearby gives you ample chance to get the most out of the area. The fusion of Inca stonework and colonial buildings makes Cusco a fascinating city full of history. You'll have plenty of time to explore its many ruins, markets and curious streets.
