From Cairo you then take the comfortable sleeper train south along the Nile valley to Aswan, gateway to Nubia and Africa beyond. Aswan and the Temples of the Nile In Aswan you've plenty of time to wander along the Nile-side corniche, or travel further afield to visit the High Dam or Philae temple. You'll enjoy dinner with a Nubian family before stepping aboard your cruise boat for the classic river journey to Luxor. Here you can relax and watch daily life on the Nile pass by, stopping to explore the impressive temples at Edfu and Kom Ombo. Luxor and Cairo Once in Luxor your journey through Egypt's magnificent history continues with a visit to the legendary Valley of the Kings and a carriage ride to stunning Karnak Temple. Heading north you return to Cairo where there's time to indulge in some last minute shopping in the Khan al Khalili bazaar or make a visit to the world's oldest pyramid at Saqqara.
