Itinerary
Day 1/2 Fly to Bogota and take a tour around the city Day 3/4 Villa de Leyva Visit the unique Salt Cathedral, carved out of salt bedrock in Zipaquira. In Villa de Leyva you then take a tour to see the town's main plaza and important colonial buildings. Day 5 Manizales Flying south to Manizales, you find yourself in the heart of Colombia's "coffee zone", surrounded by steep mountains. Day 6 Los Nevados NP In the mountains you spend the day in Los Nevados NP. Hike amongst glaciers, waterfalls and lunar-like lava fields. Day 7 Coffee Plantation A visit to a coffee plantation will show you the production process from bean to cup, with plenty of taste tests along the way! Day 8-10 Cartegena Cartegena is full of Colombian character and charm. Wander its narrow streets and colourful plazas and discover historic gems along the way. Day 11 Tayrona NP Pausing en route at Totumo mud volcano for a mud bath, you reach Tayrona NP. Walk through the jungle to the park's pristine beaches and spend the night in hammocks, for an authentic Colombian beach experience. Day 12 Santa Marta Today has been left free for you to relax and enjoy the park. The energetic among you might like to visit the ruined, pre-Colombian town of Pueblito. Day 13 Bogota Fly back to Bogota where you have the rest of the day free. Day 14/15 Overnight flight home.

Graded moderate. The hike in Los Nevados NP is at high altitude (approx 5,000m above sea level) and there is a risk of altitude sickness. Road journeys aren't significantly long, but are often winding. One night will be spent sleeping in hammocks under thatched shelters..
